HEALTH
NGANJONI HEALTH CLINIC

Malnutrition, high morbidity and mortality are characteristic problems in Nganjoni village, especially for babies being delivered at home without trained nurses or doctors.

At WEECE we recognized this problem after working with the women of Nganjoni village. We initiated the Nganjoni Clinic project to provide healthcare in Nganjoni village and the surrounding regions.

In 2009, with help from inhabitants of Nganjoni, WEECE began the construction of the Nganjoni Clinic. There, trained medical staff regularly helps people who without the clinic would be forced to travel long distances to seek appropriate medical treatment. The clinic has brought happiness and pride to the inhabitants of Nganjoni village. Medical services like mother-child-care and blood pressure examinations are readily available.

WEECE also helped the clinic install a solar power system guaranteeing constant access to electricity and brought safe water to the Nganjoni community. The Tanzanian government has been very supportive of the project, they supplied two nurses/midwives, and continue providing financial assistance to the clinic, to help pay the salaries of both nurses, a doctor and equipping the clinic with basic medical appliances. All this has allowed the clinic to become well established in the region, allowing basic care to be provided to inhabitants of Nganjoni village and its surrounding villages.

WEECE has been helping Nganjoni Clinic prepare seminars on preventive healthcare and avoidable public health issues such as HIV. We firmly believe that educating people on health issues will reduce their need for healthcare and thus, limit and control diseases that are prevalent in these rural areas.
